Topography: Venezuela is surrounded by the Caribbean sea and the
Atlantic ocean from the north (Britannica, 2023)1. Venezuela can use
these water bodies as a way of international trade however the amount
of paperwork involved to do this is really big. There are manufacturers
who have gone through 40 different steps in order to get a go sign for
the import or export container (News, 2011)2. Venezuela has many
Caribbean islands and archipelagos. Venezuela also has the northern
Andean mountain and highlands (Britannica, 2023)3. Venezuela has
high mountains and many jungles, these features provide a natural
habitat for Venezuela. Venezuela also has Lake Maracaibo which is the
largest lake in North America. Venezuela also has Angel Falls which is
the world’s highest waterfall (Britannica, 2023)4.
Location: The country of Venezuela is located at the end of South
America to the north. This country is larger than France and Germany
combined. Venezuela is bordered by Guyana from the east, Brazil from
the south, Colombia from the southwest and west.

Climate: Venezuela’s temperatures are about the same with just a little difference based on
season. Since Venezuela has higher landscapes such as mountains and hills, this feature causes a
difference in temperature, rainfall and vegetation. Depending on where you live in Venezuela, the
temperature can vary from 66 degrees fahrenheit to 82 degrees fahrenheit (Britannica, 2023)7.
The temperature will change from day to day and it will be different from month to month.
Venezuela has 2 seasons wet and dry, these 2 seasons take place from May to March.
Northeastern coastal areas receive some rainfall in the summer. Rain shadow areas behind coastal
ranges are dry. Flood and drought are common throughout the seasons. Heavy downpours are
also common, these downpours cause mudslides and floods in the country (Britannica, 2023)8.
Some rainfall taking place during the summer time is not a good idea for international business.
In order to import and export agricultural products, there has to be rainfall throughout all
seasons, not just one. When a flood takes place in Venezuela, all crops will grow and Venezuela
can export during that time. A flood can also damage any crops that come in its way, Venezuela
would lose its vegetation and agriculture making it impossible to export crops. Droughts are also
common like the flood, while flood provides water for the crops, a drought dries out the whole
land. Venezuela would not have one of the main factors needed in order to make a crop grow,
mudslides also damage or cover a crop, this makes international business of agriculture and
vegetation impossible.

Stability and resources: Due to the weather and environmental changes throughout the year,
Venezuela is not a stable place to do agriculture and vegetation. This factor affects international
business when it comes to exporting vegetables and fruits. The seasons of Venezuela are stable in
certain months of the year, however the climate conditions are not. Floods and droughts are
really common in Venezuela making the country impossible to export crops and vegetation to
other countries. A drought will dry out land and a flood will damage crops that come in its way.

Land use: There are 3 different types of land in Venezuela, they are land for agriculture, forests
and others. The “Other” category is divided into arable land and permanent crops. Arable land is
