Coaching at a local basketball club: small local session
Activities will include: mini games
Desired outcomes from sessions:
1) Being able to improve fundamental skills such as coordination
2) Being able to develop game skills such as passing and defending
3) Being able to build a good personal and social development such as team skills,
communication and confidence.
Give a brief overview of the session:
1. Participants will arrive and be checked to ensure clothing and footwear is correct
2. Participants will start with a Basketball training session with a qualified coach
3. Any questions by the participants would be answered by the coach
Safety considerations:
● Basketball court- make such the court is clear and dry, any rubbish should be thrown in the
bin and wet floors should me dried out before people arrive

for the facility being used
● Player conduct- players should be playing fair and not aggressively and if misused then a

stretcher should be available at all times. Players should also be checked if they are wearing

This activity session includes a warm-up, main activity and cool down. The activities will
include pulse raising activities, joint mobilisation activities and dynamic flexibility activities
Introduction/warm up: Joint mobilisation activities
The aim of a mobilisation to use all major joints through their whole range of motion.This will allow the
joints to warm up and prepare the joints for the movements and activities to come. Mobilisation
activities would include exercises for all major joints, specifically those which will be put the most
stress on when performing for example the legs and arms.
Warm up:
1. Deep lunge with rotation 20s hold
2. Tabletop bridge 20s hold
3. Plank 20s hold
4. Side plank 20s hold
5. Hamstrings 20s hold
