This assignment is about the features contributing to a successful business. In this
assignment I will be exploring two different businesses, a public sector business and
a private sector business. I have chosen to study Asda, which is a national retailer
aimed to provide goods and services that are affordable to the public and the second
largest retailer store in the UK.Whereas the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is a
charity organised in the UK. Its aim is to be able to fund research to beat heartbreak
from heart and circulatory diseases including their risk factors.

Stockdale and J.W. Hindell Asda managed to become a successful well known
retailer within the UK serving at least 18 million customers, nationally, each week.
Asda PLC operates in the private sector as a public limited company. Thus, the
company’s shares are purchased by common people who benefit from the
performance of the company and are known as the shareholders of the
company.Asda has a limited liability which means that it is likely to lose the money
that they have invested in their business. Google states that currently, ASDA has
165,000 employees all over the UK, making it a large business.

cardiovascular disease. More than 3.5million people have been trained in schools by
Heart Start around the UK.
British Heart Foundation operates in the voluntary sector as a company limited by
guarantee. The British Heart Foundation has a public liability insurance which
extends its legal liability to include Heart start activities as they pledge to “Fight for
every heart beat”. The British Heart Foundation is a successful business as it has
trained over 3.5million individuals. In the year 2014, they raised more than £147
million.
