I have noticed that the laptop was running slowly, most of the programs were taking a longer time to
load than normal, the browser was taking a lot of time to open. I decided to defrag the laptop which
will allow me to optime the hard driver and make free space on the hard drive. After looking on the
internet what tools I can use for defragmentation I have found out this software. After some
research I learnt that defragmenting is beneficial for HDD because it brings files together instead of
scattering them so that the device’s read-write head doesn’t have to move around as much when
accessing files
So, I have opened this software which it’s called Defrag Tool and as you see in the picture that I need
to select the drive where I want to do this defragmentation. As you see in the picture underneath
the ‘current status’ its showing that the drive needs to be optimised. After that I pressed ‘optimize’
and the drive automatically doing defragmentation and optimize.

As the laptop was running the fan was running loudly as well. The laptop was getting high
temperature all the time and the fan from inside the laptop was very loudly. One of the problems I
can think of that cause this its dust went inside the laptop and this cause the laptop to run slowly
and etc. So I have decided to use physical tools to clean the laptop inside, I needed a screw driver,
ESD wrist band and a brush, I will show a picture with all the tools I have used.
So, I have used the screwdriver to open the laptop screws, but before of that I had to put the ESD
wrist band on my arm as it will prevent to disperse static electricity generated from me safely to the
ground. After doing all these things I have used the brush to clean the dust from the inside of the
laptop. As you see in the images below, I went with the brush over the RAM, over the fans and all
around. After I cleaned the laptop, I have put every screw back together and I have tried to boot the
laptop. The sound which was coming before stopped and the laptop temperature was normal as
usual.
