In this report I will be discussing how my selected business issues their
induction programme and how it would benefit the business itself along
with their new employees. JD Sports being my chosen business , being in
the retail industry , I would introduce an improved version of their
induction programme that would allow the business to be more effective
with their new employees as the current one they got now is slightly easy
and quick.
P5)
JD Sports being in the retail industry including their target market is at
the young age group , their induction programme seems to be quick for
them as the young minds are quick at learning so it only makes sense for
them to allow the new employee to be in quickly. Also , for their induction
JD’s make sure that all the employees do most of the induction at the
store including the videos which is required as they will get tested on it.
However there is always room for improvement and JD Sports being that
business where they induct the new employees quickly could be a slight
issue as they don't know how or what the employee feels in the
environment and something has to be done about that.
Speaking to my friend and looking at some youtube videos , the induction
seems to be really quicker than any other induction. What the company
does is calls them on their mobile phone for the pre-employment stage
which every other business does and requires them to look at the
employees data such as bank details , right to work documents and
national insurance number including giving the employee their uniform.
Also , with this phone call they would be invited for an induction which
allows the new employees to get trained by the business as itd allow the
employee to be more confident and feel settled within the environment.
The current induction only involves the new employees meeting the new
and current employees along with the practical approach of them having
to watch videos which allows them to understand their role more.
However , I believe this is good but looks too quickto quick for the
business to allow the new employees to start working on their own in a
very short period of time. How would the business know that the new
employee is struggling or how would they know that the new employee

doesn't feel comfortable hence why I had developed this new induction
programme that would allow the employee and employer to take their
take on training on their new employees and make sure that they are
ready to start working for the company.
Pre Employment ● Call the employee to bring HR Member
their banks details , iD , right
to work document and
National Insurance Number
● Give the employee their
employee handbook , uniform
and log in.
First Week ● Introduce the employees to Hr Member
( Paid ) the group , allow them to along with
meet each other as they will supervisors
be working with each other.
● Allow the new employees to
use their log in to watch
some videos and take some
tests which will allow the
company to undertake the
first step of training analysis.
The videos will allow them to
understand their role and
what is required.
● Allow the new employees to
meet with their managers
including the store managers
and explain their roles to
them briefly so they get more
of an understanding of it.
Including how important the
role is and what it means for
the business and them.
● Teach the new employees
how to use the technology
such as the walkie talkies and
the till if they ever work
there.
