Unit 8
The Recruitment and Selection Process
Assignment 2

P5 - Complete a SWOT analysis on your performance in role in the interviewing
activities.
Strengths:
I believe my biggest strength in this interviewing process was the preparation of
the documents. As I believe that I do particularly good and efficient research
when it comes to assignments or any other type of written work like the
documents. I had good research about the job opening and had my CV and cover
letter made for it as well. I had also good research and preparation as the
interviewee, as I had researched all Nando’s job openings and took my ideas from
there making a realistic job description and person specification.
Another strength of mine could be my communication skills going into the
interview, even though I was nervous and had no idea how the interview will go, I
produced good answers with a background to the answers as well in a timely
manner. As the interviewer I had also used my communication skills effectively as
I had my questions written out but as the interview went on, I added a few extra
ones as extension to have the best possible information to give the final
judgement for the job.
Lastly, my use of language and my body language was also a strength as I was very
respectful and helpful. This gives off a good impression as an interviewee and an
interviewer as it shows your professionalism which helps them make a decision.
Weaknesses:
I believe that my biggest weakness throughout the process was the inexperience
of the interviewing process. I had never been in an interviewing position before,
so I had nothing to expect. Which made me very nervous throughout the process,
which lead to me not answering some of the questions as well as I would have

, wanted to. As the interviewer, the inexperience was clear as much as I was trying
to act professionally, I was still struggling with the execution of the questions.
Another weakness was that I went into the interview to be done with it once and
for all as I as nervous. Which led to me not answering the questions properly as I
was answering the questions but for some of the questions, I gave very little
explanation which does leaves the interviewer very little to work with decreasing
my chances of being chosen for the job. As an interviewer I regret to not have
asked more questions as I gathered less information than what I would have
preferred. As I was in a hurry I had around only 8-10 questions written with some
questions from on the top of my head, but the interviewee answered them in a
quick manner as well which left me with very little information to make a
judgement on.
Opportunity:
I will take this interviewing process as an opportunity to practice more as I will get
in an interview at some point in my career later on. I can use this to improve my
skills as I do realise the mistakes, I have made during my interviewing process.
Firstly, I will take this as an opportunity to improve my communication skills even
though I listed it as a strength, I still believe there is always a room for
improvement. I can work on answering the questions more precisely and carefully
and with more explanation.
This will increase my confidence going forward which is what I believe is my
biggest weakness alongside the inexperience, as I was very nervous throughout
the process as an interviewer and an interviewee. This will help me execute my
questions and answers more effectively.
This whole interviewing process has also given me enough experience to know
what to expect in an interview and what is required in an interview so there is no
confusion on the preparation in interviewing positions in the future.
Threat:
A threat would be that as this was not a professional interviewing process, I might
go into future interviews expecting the same whereas it could turn out
completely different. So, this still does not give me enough experience to go into
the next interview and perform a lot better.
