ASSIGNMENT 14.1 TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES
, P2 Demonstrate the use of event-driven programming tools and techniques
Tool boxes: In visual basic the tool boxes Is a vital feature to be used by programmers as
without it, it will be impossible to program. The tool boxes have many tools that allow
people to code, the different types of tools will help with different outcomes. As in some
circumstances one particular tool may be useless, depending on what the user is trying to
achieve.
As you can see on the left side of the screen there is a image which shows some
of the tools that are available in the tool box. All the tools will help users
achieve there coding goals successful.
Label tool: in visual basics the label tool allows users to display text on the
form. Once the form is running the users will not be able to rename the labels.
Labels are commonly used on the GUI to relay important text. The text will help
the users navigate their computers. The tool is used by dragging and dropping
text boxes onto the form
Text boxes: this tool will allow the users to interact with the form. When the
users place a text box inside the form it will allow the user to interact with it
when the form is running. For example, you would add a text box to the form
when creating calculator as the text boxes will allow the users to add, subtract
and multiply there chosen numbers.
List box: this tool is also dragged and dropped when being created. The creator
of the from will have to add a list in the box for it to work. for example, a food
menu, the list box will allow the user to scroll through the list to select a chosen
food item. The list box will not be able to change when the form is running but
the users will be able to click a food item from within the list box.
Picture box: this is another tool that is dragged and dropped when the from is
being created. It will allow users to display images. For example, when creating
a food menu the users may whish to add images to display what the items look
like. Through coding the users will be able to display a selected picture when a
specific food item is selected in the food menu.
Selection: Visual Basic's flow is controlled by selection. Input and output are controlled by
this part of the programming language based on the criteria defined. Coders most
commonly use the IF statement as a control flow statement because it is the most common.
There is an evaluation of the logic statement's statement within it. It will execute the code if
it determines that the statement is true. Otherwise, it will ignore the statement and
continue with the next line of code.
