is the stroma). Next there is the inner membrane which controls the materials flow into and
out of the chloroplast. The thylakoid is the place of the light-dependent process that takes
place on a sheet-like membrane. It has chlorophyll, absorbs light, and produces ATP. The
granum increases the surface area of the thylakoid, allowing more light to pass through to
the chlorophyll. The outer membrane serves as a solute permeability membrane barrier,
