EMOTIONAL LABOUR

SO, THESE ARE FEW RELEVENT EXAMPLES OF EMOTIONAL LABOUR .Furthermore,an example of
healthcare assistant Molly will explain more about this aspect. An event was held in the nursing
home in Michigan and an older group of pines’ residents was sitting in this event. These people were
social isolated and unresponsive in nature. In addition, they were not showing interest by giving
reply of something. As a result , it became a troublesome situation for Molly, who was doing a job to
connect them towards this event. Molly had a knowledge about these rural peoples because she
read a book, which describes farm life. She was asking questions whether they did not show any sign
that they have heard. Then , she started to talk with each one individually. Molly tried to start
conversation with first patient but she got really bad experience from her, like first patient showed
sleepy behaviour and said this exercise is not making any sense. Molly got little happiness from
second lady because she did some response to her. But Molly had to put a lot of efforts in order to
get this. There was tears in the eyes of her and got emotional due to this struggle.Afterthat, Molly
took a deep breathe with a embarrassed laugh because she had to do this job whether their
response was good or bad. Arlie Hochschild(1983) argued that workers have to hide personal
feelings and work according to organizational rules in these jobs. So, It is mandatory for workers to
align inner side feelings and outward displays. If we do talk about Molly’s job ,her job responsibility
was to make a social relationships with clients.

Emotional labor is a term which defines that to manage feelings or emotions on the workplace. In
other words, it is necessary for an employee to pay attentions towards the work in order to fulfill job
requirements, although someone likes it or not. In some ways, emotional labor helps to boost the
growth of an organization by providing best service to the customer. This essay will highlight
emotional jobs and workers condition in it with the help of suitable examples.

It is argued by hochschild (1983) that companies need employees who can service emotions along
with the job. To exemplify, in some types of jobs . Like, nurses have to show concern and
compassion, act sober and sympathetic in the work of funeral homes, hostess show to smile and act
friendly with the passengers (Humphrey et al. 2015). So, these are some examples of emotional
labor. Furthermore, an example of healthcare assistant Molly will explain more about this aspect. An
event was held in the nursing home in Michigan and an older group of pines’ residents was sitting in
