The background music is a pastiche of american- feel good-comedy- family - vaudevillian music , that
chronicles progress in its ascending phrases:upholding traditional american mid-western values. Positive,
ascending chime induce gratification. Also an innocent, vaudevillian pastiche as a comic device.
As the tasks increase in sophistication so does the tempo, thus increasing the urgency of the gratification.
which stimulates the players brain to be more ‘in the zone’.
The music a series of ascending phrases - demonstrating progress (trope of movies)

• Simlish = Gibberish which is an Implosion.
- Linguisticly it has no meaning, but the inflection of the speech are a very
clear indicator of what is being said and its emotional timbre
• Post war 1950’s American dream values posters = ancestors of The Sims =
proto-Sims
• find the shirt in 1950s American dream are present in Sims free play
posters of the American dream presenter family lifestyle which consist of
that at work mom at home looking after the children lovely house and
white picket fence. This ideology is present in The Sims and is recognised
through their advertising ‘grow your own family’. However players are
given control and Sims are not limited to unconventional roles of women
working at home, men being the breadwinner.

• Actual work is not enacted in the game instead it remains
implicit occurring outside the narrative = inversion of mean
world theory.
• As a result of this (job off-stage) we witness only the results
of their endeavours are not the process the job is unseen and
therefore a step removed from the first implosion of reality =
implosion within an implosion.
• Pregnancy example - fans were able to influence the
maintaining of hyper reality by insisting on the progress of
her pregnancy establishing their prosumer status.
