The following is a three-page analysis that discusses the role of recruitment and selection in

developing a diverse workforce , 3 biases that may exist in this process ,a detailed discussion of

at least 5 different strategies that can be implemented in the recruitment and selection process to

ensure that it is inclusive and free from bias, and how these five strategies can be used to create

diverse and inclusive workforce.

According to glass door, “Your employees - current and future - care about diversity. Also, 67

per cent of active and passive job seekers (Glassdoor, 2014) said that a diverse workplace is a

key factor when considering an employer or a job change. Therefore, in addition to the obvious

reason that any corporation is being structured is to generate revenue. However, there is a direct

correlation between a company being diversified and the company's revenue potential. Equity,

Equality and Inclusion are three key factors that any successful company must embrace.

Equity provides fair treatment and equal advancement opportunities for each employee. Equality

is strict adherence to the laws set forth by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity

commission. The EEOC prohibits any employer from discriminating against an employee based

on their race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.

Discrimination against an employee based upon any of the aforementioned characteristics is

realized in the workplace when employers are biased. Three types of workplace bias’s that

employers need to steer clear of during recruitment as well as the employees work cycle are

affinity bias, beauty bias, and contract effect / judgement bias.

Affinity Bias is when a hiring manager interviews a candidate for a position with the company
