,Introduction
In this assignment I am going to research on respiratory system and
cardiovascular system functions, organs and diseases. I am also going to add
pictures after each definition. I will assess the role of the nervous system in
coordinating the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. I will also research and
write information about nervous system with a flow chart and explain with a
definition.
Anatomy for respiratory system
Anatomically, respiratory tract is divided into upper (organ outside
thorax - nose, pharynx and larynx) and lower respiratory tract (organ
within thorax - trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveolar duct and alveoli).
The discussion is mainly concentrated on the lower respiratory tract
and the related physiology.
Functions of respiratory system:
Oversees gas exchanges (oxygen and carbon dioxide) between the blood
and external environment.
Exchange of gases takes place within the lungs in the alveoli (only site of
gas exchange, other structures passageways.
Passageways to the lungs purify, warm and humidify the incoming air.
Shares responsibility with cardiovascular system.

, Organs of the respiratory system
The upper respiratory tract:
Nose
It is the only external part of the respiratory system.
Air enters the nose through the external nostrils.
The interior of the nose consists of a nasal cavity divided by a nasal septum.
Anatomy of the nasal cavity
Factory receptors are located in the mucosa on the superior surface.
The rest of the cavity is lined with respiratory mucosa
Moistens air
Traps incoming foreign particles
Lateral walls have projections called conchae
Increases surface area
