After filling out the skills audit, I am able to analyse my performance from the interview and
therefore see my both strong and weak areas of my interview process, and work on them for
future interviews in order to improve and impress the interviewer next time. Within my
interview process I realised some of the positives and negatives I had while I was being
interviewed. I believe the interview went really well, although I had some mistakes, and I
also believe I could´ve done better.
For an interview, you should dress smartly and I made sure that I was dressed as smartly as
possible. I researched what was appropriate to wear and I believe this gave the interviewer a
first good impression of me. Another positive and important thing I did for the interview, is
that I left home much earlier in the morning just in case, as now, there are more strikes going
on, and I didn´t want to portray a bad image. Also, when you go to a job interview, you can´t
just say the first thing that goes into your head. You must avoid slang as much as possible,
and I truly believe I achieved this, as I didn´t use any slang words at all in the entire
interview, and this made me look professional as well as paying attention to what the
interviewer was saying.
I believe my main strength in the recruitment process has been the preparation, which divides
it into two main things: being prepared for the job, by researching it and writing an excellent
CV and cover letter. I feel like I did a good research, I got all the information I needed to
know and I was aware of what type of questions I could’ve been asked in the interview. I
revised it for a few days, and with that done, I created my CV and cover letter for the job. I
was very satisfied with myself when I finished it.
During the interview, I was very nervous, but I was able to overcome those nerves by
believing in myself. I was able to explain properly what I wanted to say on most of my
answers. As I was able to respond each one of the questions, especially avoiding slang words
and with context linked to the company and the question, I think I gave the interviewer a
really good impression, being professional and paying attention to everything. I believe this
was my USP. After the interview, I felt like my main strength apart from my confidence, was
my dress code. I felt like I gave the interviewer a good first impression of me before and
during the interview, as I was dressed as smartly as possible.
But as I said before, not all went that well. There were some minor mistakes, and I must take
into consideration, and learn from them to help me improve for future job interviews at other
companies/businesses.
