Students with bachelor's degrees in psychology gradually develop strong research and writing
skills, are competent problem solvers, and have well-developed, higher-level thinking talents
for analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information. (Zannella et al., 2019). In
psychological research, researchers frequently depend on undergraduate students to engage in
psychological studies, ethical norms demand that their involvement must be instructional.
("https://www.apa.org/education-career/guide/careers.pdf", 2011).
As an undergraduate student one is aware of the topic and static research area. Research is
followed by an empirical stage which includes design, data collection, and data analysis.
Researching helps students to acquire knowledge of significance. Participating in research
helps students to develop originality in projects and assignments taking different approaches
and techniques into consideration. Exemplifying originality by testing someone else's idea
and carrying out empirical research that hasn't been done before is the biggest benefit in the
area of research in psychology. This helps in inventing unique ideas methods and theories
that haven’t been done before. The initial researches allowed me to give dimension and
construct my ideas and write confidently, fluently, and regularly. Secondly, it enabled me in
creating a map of the course or material range. Thirdly involving in re-searches encouraged
me to think differently and creatively. Researching provides students with frequent
experience in condensing their ideas in writing. It might be a source of comfort in which one
can confide, sort issues and uncertainties. Additionally, as it accumulates during the project,
it will act as a catalyst for introspection so you are better equipped to pick a study topic that is
realistic and interesting to you and to know how you can focus your initial ideas into
something more realistic. One can assure that research aids under-graduate psychology
students to become critical readers who engage with the resources and gradually develop
good listening and active reader. As a result of participating in research, students have
developed the ability to ask questions, both directly and indirectly, by reviewing the material
acquired from various. Rather than taking the interpretation for granted, they strive hard to
generate it. Researchers adhere to the strategy instruction policy, which includes clear
procedures for preparing, reviewing, and editing an essay while doing research. Fidalgo,
Torrance, and Garcia (2008) created a cognitive self-regulation instruction (CSRI)
intervention that teaches planning and rewriting procedures. Students' writing products and
processes varied from those of control students who did not receive the intervention two
years after completing the CSRI. Students who got the instruction created higher-quality,
more organized writings, and they reported spending more time describing their studies.
(Macarthur et al., 2016) Students who participate in researches are less likely to express a
lack of motivation and appeared to have stronger writing self-efficacy. Overall, it indicates
that this method of teaching supports long-term advantages to writing, altering the overall.
In conclusion, the participating research helped me to focus and acquire an underlying
potential to acquire skills. While carrying out research projects one can make use of all
everyday skills for example how the day in university went, how one was different from other
students in the seminars in terms of performance.
