Poppy-Grace McLean 447062 Unit 4 - Managing an Event Assignment 2

Introduction
In this assignment I will be talking about 3 different events, The Grammy music Awards, Olympics 2012
London, and Apple’s iPhone X launch. All these events were carried out very well and did well in popularity
and profits.
P3 – Investigate the Staging of Several Events to Determine Common Success Factors.
Event 1 – The Grammy Music Awards
The Grammy music awards is an American awards show that takes place
every year usually at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. The Grammys
recognize different music and different artists around the world. The
event is used to honor the music industry's most talented composers,
song writers and musicians. The Grammys also included a lot of live
performances from different artists.
The Purpose of the Grammy’s is to show the musical ability of many different artists and to entertain the
viewers at the same time. To ensure this the event is successful the event planners will have to make sure to
plan everything perfectly and make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Over 8.8 million people watched and/or attended the Grammy Awards in 2021, which was a fully televised and
virtual event. In 2019, 17.95 million people watched the Grammy Awards (excluding those who attended in
person). The event dropped viewers that year, but the event was still deemed as successful. The event is only
available to any guests performing and any prize receivers not available to the public. The grammy event's cost
is unknown, but we expect it to be expensive because they have many things to pay for.
To ensure that the event will be safe for the people that are attending the event planners will have to conider
the health and safety. They have to ensure that the health and safety of the performers are a big priority
aswell. They also must ensure the location is safe and the best place to host this event. They also will need to
have some sort of back-up plan incase anything goes wrong they can fix it. Luckily for the grammy, they have
many people who volunteer to help with these things.
The event location is important. The venue that the Grammys host their event has been used for many other
popular events which gives them some more marketing because viewers and guests invited to the event will
know about the location because they would have seen it before. The venue that the Grammys use can fit
around 20,000 people so they know that everyone will fit.
The Grammy awards is one of the most popular events in the United States and every year they run a
successful event and they highlight the music abilities of many artists every year.

Event 2 – Olympics 2012 London
Every 4 years the Olympics host an event that brings together every country to play against each other in
different sport categories. Every time the Olympic games start again, they host it in a new nation. In 2005, the

, Olympics decided to host their 2012 games in London. This was because of the public's decision. Most of the
time when they host at a new place there is lots and renovation to hold the games properly.
There is multiple reasons the Olympics games being held in London was successful. The first one being that the
public chose where they wanted the Olympics to host that year's games so therefore, they were more excited
and interested in these games. The environment also helped to boost the athlete's performance.
The marketing of the Olympic games also made it highly successful. The marketing
team was very successful because the marketing team was made up of the best of
the best. The merchandise for the games also made the event very successful. The
games were also broadcast on all the major channels, which meant that over 90% of
the population was reached.
The health and safety of the event is also particularly important because of the
athletes. It was important to ensure that the athletes were well looked after and
received important care to reduce the number of accidents. The event was so
successful because of its health and safety.
The success of the London Olympics will gp down in history. They were a huge financial success; they gave the
UK economy a £10 billion boost. They were also a huge success because of the competition standard and the
few accidents.
Event 3 – Apple’s iPhone X Launch
Even the phone's name, iPhone X, added to the buzz surrounding it. The
marketing strategy for the phone implied that it was a purchase from the
future. Apple skipped the iPhone 9 in Favour of the iPhone X,
demonstrating that they waited two years before releasing the phone.
This led to excitement about the device, which carried a hefty £1000 price
tag. Because of its marketing plan, it demonstrated that £1000 was
worthwhile. Apple's marketing approach successfully engaged their
audience.
Apple's product announcement for this took place at a brand-new venue that they built in Cupertino and
named after the company's founder., also known as Steve Jobs Theatre. This was beneficial since it gave the
consumer a sense of experiencing something that they had never seen before, which made this event an
exciting one to look forward to. The new auditorium was built to provide the finest setting for customers to
view the new iPhone, according to the agency manager David Hargreaves, who handled Apple's public
relations.
Apple also carried out a tactic of leaking teasers to the media. This was done on purpose to generate a lot of
consumer curiosity and spread the news. Before the launch, thousands of videos and posts were published on
social media. The spike in interest led to an increase in preorders, and the popularity of the videos and the
resulting curiosity even caused Google and Android consumers to switch to Apple.
The introduction of the iPhone X was the biggest in Apple history. Edge-to-edge screens and facial recognition
were implemented. Even at a price of £1000, it was a big hit, selling 25% more units than the previous record-
holder, the iPhone 6.
