Unit 16
Task P4

Introduction

In this assignment I will be describing how an organisaton of my choice
obtains the corporaton of employees through the contract of employment
and employee involvement techniques.

ASDA: ASDA Stores Limited was founded as Associated Dairies & Farm Stores
Limited in 1949 in Leeds. The adopton of the ASDA name occurred in 1965
with the merger of the Asquith chain of three supermarkets and Associated
Dairies; ASDA is an abbreviaton of Asquith and Dairies, ofen capitalised. For a
short tme in the 1980s ASDA Stores Ltd was a subsidiary of ASDA-MFI Plc
following a merger between the two companies.

A contract of employment is the contract that is made between the employer
and to employee. The employer agrees to ofer a salary in return for the
employee performing dutes. Diferent types of enttlements, rights and
procedures are associated with employment contract.

Some of the enttlements that are writen into a contract are statutory
enttlements (legal rights,, whilst others are voluntary. Terms that are writen
very clearly and directly within a contract are known as express terms, for
examples, 28 days holiday per annum. There is also a set of term known as
“implied terms” within a contract. These are terms that although not writen
down anywhere do exist, usually because they are very obvious, for example,
that the employee will be loyal and honest.
