CARBOHYDRATES

Carbohydrates provide their nests with energy, placed in cells and taken
care of for the organism. Carbohydrates are made up of tiny particles
called monomers. whole and carbohydrates consist of the elements
carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Carbohydrate chains have different lengths
and are divided into 3 categories:

1. Monosaccharides are known as single sugars. Glucose, fructose and
galactose are examples of single sugars. Monosaccharides with the
formula (CH2O)n have carbon numbers ranging from 3 to 6.
Three-carbon monosaccharide- triose
Four-carbon monosaccharide- tetrose
Fıve-carbon monosaccharide- pentose
Sıx-carbon monosaccharide-hexose

,2.Disaccharides form when two monosaccharides chemically react
together. When we react together two alpha glucose molecules the
disaccharide we make is called maltose. Chemical bond between the two
molecules of alpha glucose, this type of bond is called a glycosidic bond.
When we make a disaccharide we also produce a molecule of water. And
when a reaction forms a water molecule scientists call that a condensation
reaction.

, 3.Polysaccharides are long chains of carbohydrate molecules, composed
of several smaller monosaccharides. Polysaccharides are providing
structural support, storing energy, and sending cellular communication
signals.
