Assignment 1: The Body’s Response to Acute Exercise (P1, M1, P2...
Task 2 M1 Design PowerPoint slides explaining and
giving examples of how the musculoskeletal,
cardiovascular and respiratory system responds to
acute exercise

• Range of movement: The secretion of synovial fluid occurs within the
joint because movement is stimulated. The joints become warmer because
the synovial fluid contains chemical energy in the cell and therefore
movement becomes more efficient. As the joints are warming up due to
exercise, this is leading to the body temperature increasing. This is because
that synovial fluid has now become ‘runny’ and ‘thinner’, this will be allowing
an increase in range of movement. The reason for this is exercising makes
our joint move quickly and in order to so there needs to be more synovial
fluid taking place in the joints to permit and assist movement.
As you can see in this image synovial
fluid is building up to create a little
distance between two joints to make it
runny and then having the ability for
range of movement from any direction.

• Blood supply: During light exercises, the working muscles are
demanding more oxygen to continue contracting at low intensity. The way
this works is that the nervous system identifies and makes the heart beat
faster. As the body requires more oxygen at the same time we also begin to
take up more oxygen from the blood as it passes through the muscles. This
leads to blood supply increasing through capillary dilation. The function of
this is to allow more oxygen going in and out from the body. So the capillary
becomes more expanded to allow this to occur.
As you can see in this image capillaries
are like little components that allow the
transfer of oxygen and other nutrients.
Carbon dioxide wasted materials are
