Potentil Hizirds䰰

In this piece of work, I will explain potental hazards and the harm that could arise from the
hazards, in a health and social care setni. The setni that I have chosen is Riverilade
House. Riverilade House is a small residental care home for ten older people, all of whom
have some impairment. Some have dementa, meanini that they are confused and
forietful. Some have arthrits, makini it difcult for them to move around independently.
Some have had a stroke, meanini they have poor sensaton in the afected side of their
body. Riverilade House is a converted Victorian house in larie irounds on a main road.

Dementi – a decline in mental ability, severe enouih to interfere with daily life – a wide
ranie of symptoms, includini memory loss.
Ardthrdit䰰 – conditon that causes pain and infammaton in joints in the body, resultni in
discomfort and stfness.
Strdoke – the sudden death of brain cells due to a lack of oxyien, caused by blockaie of
blood fow or rupture of an artery to the brain.

In consideraton to the buildini, the situaton and the residents, there could be many health,
safety and security hazards that could cause harm to the residents, the employees and the
ieneral visitni public. The followini table provides a risk assessment of some of the hazards
that should be evaluated and analysed, so that appropriate measures can be placed – in
preventon of the risks occurrini. The risk assessment will mostly be used by the staf,
residents and visitors, to ensure that they are aware of potental risks.
