Wand van de dunne darm: oppervlakte van de dunne darm is groot (30 m2), waardoor opname
nutriënten gemaximaliseerd wordt.
Eigenschappen die zorgen voor deze vergroting van het oppervlak:
• Cirkelvormige plooien
• Villi
• Microvilli
• Glycocalix (slijmlaagje)

Brush border (= microvilli + glycocalyx)

Enterocyten zijn gepolariseerde cellen: 2 domeinen
• Apicale domein
• Latero basale domein

,Celtypen dunne darm:
• Microvilli: absorptieve cel (verteert en neemt nutriënten op)
• Goblet cell: secretes mucus
• Entero endocriene cel: secretes the hormones secretine, CCK of GIP)
• Paneth cell: secretes lysozymen en kan fagocyteren => tegen bacteriën.

Alvleesklier (pancreas)
• Ligt parallel aan, en onder de maag
• Nodig voor vertering: produceert enzymen nodig voor vertering en natrium bicarbonaat
• Nodig voor controle van metabolisme: hormonen insuline en glucagon
• Klieren: exocrien en endocrien

Structuur van de exocriene alvleesklier:
• Acinare cellen scheiden enzymen uit in isotonische NaCl oplossing
• Duct cellen secreteren een isotonische NaHCO3 oplossing

Gal:
• Gemaakt in levercellen, opgeslagen en geconcentreerd in galblaas
• Efficiënt gereabsorbeerd: terminaal ileum.
• Enterohepatische cyclus: maken van galzouten kost veel energie, door deze
cyclus wordt het weer terug opgenomen, zodat er zo min mogelijk verloren
gaat.
