Nazi Ideology
- Nazi 25 Point Programme of 1920 outlined that Jews had no place in the
Volksgemeinschaft and were merely visitors of Germany allowed to stay until there
were not enough resources for the ‘Herrenvolk’
- Deliberate policy of gradualism, as Hitler gained more control, he became more
confident in making laws and change based on Nazi racial ideologies
- Hitler branded Jews as untermenschen that were a dangerous threat to the racial
hygiene of Germany and needed to be eliminated to create a Judenfrei empire and
achieve Volksgemeinschaft
- Lebensraum justified invading Poland and creating Greater Germany and deporting
Jewish people
- These ideologies justified the policies of deporting Jews to the ‘General Government
Area’ of Poland that housed 2 million Jews
- Hitler’s aim of Aryanisation justified the ghettoisation that took place in Poland
- 1940 Jews were denied access to wartime rations such as clothes and food which was
justified by prioritising Ayrans

- Gave new freedoms and incentives to escalate persecution of Jews
- Gave the regime greater emergency powers and the cover of greater secrecy in their
operations
- Annexed Western Poland to become part of Greater Germany (Lebensraum) and used
the central part of Poland as the ‘General Government Area’ where they deported 2
million Jews to (Jews = untermenschen)
- Hitler demanded 300,000 Jews from Germany were to be deported into this area and
ordered the removal of all Jews from Vienna
- Ghettoization – Jews accommodated in delipidated ‘temporary’ barracks, overcrowded,
diseases and infestations spread rapidly, forced labour for no wages, forced to sell
possessions for food
