A research plan for my research project on ADHD. Different aspects of research plan, Aim, hypothesis, topic, sample groups, primary and secondary methods of research.
Methodological Research P4
Daniel Trew
In this assignment I will be producing a research plan. I will include
information on different aspects of my research project that I need to
consider in order for my project to be successful.
The aim of my research was to learn the general publics opinions towards
the disorder ADHD. I am choosing this disorder as I have carried out work
on it in other modules. In order to carry out this piece of research I would
need to collect data from questionnaires that I will issue around my fellow
students at Northern regional college. I will also issue questionnaires in
my work at Glenabbey Manor. I will reach all ages as I want to be able to
reflect the general public and discover what they believe rather than what
a small minority. My hypothesis for this research is that the general
public are aware of what ADHS is but they do not fully understand the
aspects of it.
I decided on this topic as during one of my placements in a primary school
there was a child who had ADHD. I knew what the basics of it was but I did
not really know that much of it into detail. The child would get int a bit of
trouble during class time as he would not concentrate on what was being
done and his behaviour was hard to control. Due to this I decided to try
and research it a bit further to see more in-depth of this disorder and try
to get a better understanding of it. After researching I decided I would get
some opinions on the disorder as now I had a better understanding of the
basics of it. I wanted to get a wider scope on the publics knowledge and
understandings of it. I have decided to use questionnaires as these are
more economical. In addition to this, questionnaires are also more
practical and efficient as they are easy to understand and answer and are
less time consuming.
My sample group is going to be both male and females between the ages
of 16-24 and 30-45. This is quite a large sample group so this will enable
me to get a wide range of results and write up a good assignment on my
findings. Having a larger sample group will allow me to get more results
meaning my research will have more data to back it up. To start off with I
will also issue a couple of pilot samples of my questionnaires to specific
individuals. My reasoning for this is to try and test out the questions to
ensure that they are ethical and no one will find them offensive. Issuing
pilot samples also allows me to get feedback on how easy the questions
are to understand and if they can be answered with the information I
require or want.
With the information that I gather from my research I will try and use it to
improve situations regarding ADHD pupils in classrooms scenarios. I will
try and inform teachers on the best attitude to have whenever dealing
with pupils with ADHD. During my work placemen tin a primary school if
the child with ADHD acted out then he would be punished and told off. If
the teacher knows the correct way of intervening with the student then
