We will be doing two activities in today’s seminar.
The first activity is a revision of the topics we have covered so far. Answer the 25
multiple choice questions and then we will go through the answers all together.
In the second part of the seminar, you will be working on the essay questions for
your exams. Working in groups, you are to come up with a plan and structure on how
you will answer the two essay questions assigned to your group.

How have psychologists studied crowding and what significance do these studies
have for how we should design our urban environments? (Environmental Psychology
Lecture – Week 5)
Intro: Define crowding and why it is important to study urban environments, giving
context
Main body: rat utopia personal space studies restorative effect of nature - kaplan
hospital studies - Ulrich Altman with system of territories etc. Talk about boundaries -
pros and cons etc. Make sure there is a link to urban environments and draw
comparisons between which studies may be more effective.
Conclusion: which study impacts the building of urban environments most.
Tutor: good, that works. You should introduce studies. State what significance these
studies have.
Question 2
Give an example of learned aggressive behaviour and an example of unlearned
aggressive behaviour. Explain how ethologists and social learning theorists might
explain these behaviours. (Aggression and Extremism Lecture – Week 12)
Intro: Define what is going to be talked about - unlearned and learned aggressive
behaviour. Give context as to why this is important to discuss e.g. why ethologists
play an important role. Name any relevant studies that stick out
