Explaining the steps in fatty acid oxidation including diagrams to visualise where these processes take place in the cell. Only includes beta oxidation in animal cells for saturated fats with a brief mention of oxidation of unsaturated fats in plant cells.

Explanation of the steps of fatty acid synthesis following the learning objectives outlined in the lecture material. Includes diagrams to help visualise where these processes are taking place in the cells. Also, includes information on hormone and cholesterol synthesis and its effects on the body. Lastly, the effects of alcohol on lipid metabolism such as 'fatty liver' is briefly touched upon.
