1. Chapter 1 – Introduction
1. Definitions
1.1. Sustainability 1.0
= meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability
of the future generations to meet their own needs.
- Anthropocentric: me and future generations
- 3 legged stool model

- Need to look more how our human system interacts with
the environment and which ecosystem services we get from
the environment
1.2. Sustainability 2.0
= refers to sustaining the underlying patterns of health, resilience and
adaptability to maintain this planet in a condition where life as a whole can
flourish and is possible in the long run. Organization of the modern society
today shouldn’t be sustained but rather re-designed using a regenerative
perspective.

= study of scarcity and its implications for the use of resources, production of goods and services, growth
of production and welfare over time → study of supporting human well-being and ecological health
2 questions:
- Planet = efficient allocation of planetary resources
- Communities = equitable allocation of social resources

3. Sustainability versus profits
Issue = economy has had as end goal: profit
While = regeneration should be the end goal: drive communities with a planet having enough resources

,Examples:
- Value management: consumption is value adding + shareholders value + HR value = society →
but also within planet
- Donut economics: Kate Raworth ( planetary boundaries + poverty) – also address inequality
- Planetary boundaries= overpassing (no ability to regenerate)

How really restructure/transform within the
basic of the systems without only looking at

events = symptoms
patterns and trends = what happens
underlying structure = how is it influenced
mental models = why/ beliefs

EGO = we take too much to serve ourselves
ECO = everything is interlinked, we are part of the whole system
