Nowadays companies are becoming more interesting of using social media for business, as it allows
them to promote their business more effectively and in large scale. As student who learn about this
unit on social media in business, I am being approach by the local chamber to provide them a
presentation to how to use the social media in business.
As social media become part of every people’s life. Promoting your business using social media could
be a good idea, as 4.57 billion people uses internet and 3.81 billion people uses social media, which
is a good because it will be easier for them to promote their product using social media. Also, as
social media are becoming more improving, which as a result more businesses are starting to adapt
the precaution and have understand the benefits of using social media in business and learn the
marketing strategies.
How to Identify your businesses Target Audience and what are the best audience profiles for your business:

What is an audience profile?
An Audience Profile is the type of end users that would be registered with a particular site. Factors
that affect this is location, age or even gender. Finding this information out for your business is
essential as it will allows you to gain an insight of what target audience fits your brand. Marketing
strategies then can be considered and implemented to maximise return on investment. At a
minimum your business should be on at least 3 platforms to maximise exposure of the brand;
tailoring the content posted to the strengths of the business and the platform.
For example:
Facebook: Facebook has the largest following of any social media. As a result, there are many
different profiles of the audience in social media. The profiles range from young to old due to the
wide amount of different content displayed on the platform. This content may range from children's
products to expensive vehicle. So, no matter what your business is selling there will be always an
audience profiles that work for you. By starting up using Facebook as one of your business
promotions for your products can allows you to narrow down your audience so you can cut costs.

Instagram: Instagram is another brilliant social media website that most people use every day,
however it does have a younger demographic, which means that audience profiles have a specific
characteristic. The main audience is between 16-25 years old, which way most expensive items are
rarely bought. If your business advertises mid-range products and is looking for showing off your
product. Instagram can be very beneficial platform.




Pinterest: Pinterest have a narrower demographic, as it is more originally focused on images like
Instagram, but except Instagram also include video on their site. Resulting that audience profiles is
very different from the rest of the social media platforms. It mostly focusses on the age of 24-64 so
higher rate of products are advertised on their website. You can individually view the audience
profiles to see what links or type of product that they are looking to, base to their profiles data
(history). Audience profiles on Pinterest also show what external interests they may have, which
may help you with marketing on the platform.
