In my assignment, the business I’ll be focusing on is Tesco. In this assignment I will be
examining how effective recruitment and selection contribute to a business success, I will be
undertaking a recruitment activity to demonstrate the processes leading to a successful job
offer, and reflect on the recruitment and selection process on my individual performance.
Recruiting the right people is essential to the success of a business. It is important that the
processes and procedures involved in recruitment and selection meet the needs of the
business and comply with current regulations. I will be explaining what it takes for a
business to have a successful recruitment as it’s key to maintain the success of a business, as
people are often considered to be the most valued resource. I will be exploring the various
selection tools and the enhanced use of technology in this area.
History of Tesco –
Tesco was first found in 1919 by Jack Cohen. It started off when he returned back from war
and started a market stall. Jack Cohen began selling surplus groceries from a stall in the East

first own-brand product sold, which Jack promised would bring unequalled value, was Tesco
Tea - before the company was called Tesco. The name came from the initials of TE
Stockwell, who was a partner in the firm of tea suppliers, and CO from Jack's surname.
Tesco has been operating for over 101 years. Since 1919 up in till 2020 and is still operating.
There are 6,902 Tesco stores in different countries across Asia and Europe. Tesco is the
number one supermarket in the UK and number three globally.

an equal right to apply for the job. The application process can only be done online as it
