Introduction

In this assignment I’m going to be looking at opening at my own business. I have will to do market
research and consider the local and national factor that could affect my business. It important to do
research as it keep you up dated with the latest trend.

My business is a small takeaway this is because I think in my area there are not many takeaways this
will benefit my takeaway as there’s less competition. opening a small business allows me to be self-
employed. Being self-employed allow you to use your idea and make the business how you want.it
also give you freedom as you’re the one in charge

Research

primary research is Primary research is a form of market research you collect new data from
customer. The benefit is the research is specific to your business and the research could be adapted
to your need and wants. For my business I going to be doing some questionnaire for my business. I
will create a questionnaire to ask customers what’s their top chose when ordering takeaway.

I would ask my customer to fill in a form or a questionnaire on what type of food they like and how
salty they like their food as everyone has different taste doing so will allow the chef to create a menu
that suit everyone an another primary research I will be doing is talking to customer. Asking them
how was the food etc. this allows the chef to gather feedback from the customers and hopefully
Improve the food and develop the menu

Market research

Market research is doing research to gather information about customers’ needs or wants or
preferences. This can benefit your business as it can help you to advertise effetely and sell the right
product to beat the competition

Market research will help me to understand my customer such as what type of food they like and
how often they order take away with this information I can create a menu specific to my customers
make this my unique selling point

Secondary research

,Secondary research is a research method used to find customer needs and wants. Secondary
research uses data or information that is produce by some else e.g. the internet or a newspaper
article. I am going to use the internet to find the current trends and more information about my
competitors

What secondary research will I do?

I will be doing some research online such as the latest trends or new recipes this can benefit my
business because this makes your business modern and it can attract the younger generation.

An another secondary research I will be doing to reading local newspaper because the newspapers
are local therefore the research will be more effective this can help you to find stuff that impress
local. There will be also information about local crime rate as crime can badly effect your business

Target market

A target market is a group of customers within a business's serviceable available market at which a
business aims its marketing efforts and resources. A target market is a subset of the total market for
a product or service. The target market typically consists of consumers who exhibit similar
characteristics (such as age, location, income or lifestyle) and are considered most likely to buy a
business's market offerings or are likely to be the most profitable segments for the business to
service.

Your business might have a target market of young people. The area of your business is important
because you do not want to be in an area full of retired people or pensioners. This is because
customers will not buy products that they do not need, or they cannot make use off. Therefore, if
your business does not match your target market this would be a barrier to your business.

My target markets

My business target market is teenagers to mid- aged people. This is because my business is a
takeaway young people are less conscious about their health and there are more likely to have an
unhealthy lifestyle. Therefore, they are more likely to order takeaway. Young people are also more
active therefore, they have less time to cook because of school, college, work etc. so they are more
likely to purchase takeaway. Old people are more conscious about them

Competition research online

, There are variety of takeaway in Burnley that specialise in different cuisine. There are Chinese,
Indian, Pakistan, pizza and burgers takeaways. I would like to far away from competitions because
they will have more money to advertise and their brand will be more developed than mine will. They
also have experience and knowledge, so they have an advantage over us being away from them can
stop customer going to them. Being the only business around will force customers to use your
takeaway, as they have no options

However, you could also steal customers from competitions, as customers are always willing to try
new stuff. Being in a location where there is a lot of takeaway can make your business easier to fine
as customers know where to go for food. This will save you money on advertising

This show kebab lab has very quick delivery service and a simple menu, which attract many
customers. The simple menu is liked by customer as it is easy to order as to many options can be
hard to pick from. The delivery service is very fast this is very good because this keeps the food hot
and fresh. I am going to make my menu simple because it is liked like customers
