Intro to Attachment
Caregiver + Infant Interactions;
Reciprocity – turn taking interactions with mutual responsiveness
Interactional Synchrony – mirror/imitate the actions or emotions
The Role of the Father;
Father is usually a secondary attachment
Fathers are likely to be the breadwinner, so mother stays at home and has more time with the
child
Fathers may not be equipped to form attachments, as mothers are more sensitive
Females produce more oestrogen which promotes nurturing behaviour + sensitiveness
Some researchers suggest that fathers are playmates
Some argue fathers can demonstrate sensitive responsiveness + respond to needs of children
