P3 Explain factors that may influence communication and interpersonal
interaction in health and social care environments.
This task explain Factors that may influence communication and interpersonal in
health and social care setting,Such Factors Include;

● Noise
In a scenario where there is a lot of noise it is going to be very difficult to hear a
person, which means the information cannot be received Also in a healthcare setting
a person with hearing impairment can have difficulty with loud noise projecting into
their inner ear ,For example Mo in Oakland residential care who has had a lifelong
hearing impairment and maybe uses a hearing aid,if there was too much noise Mo
hearing aids will project background noise and also the voice of the speaker, he will
not be able to communicate or hear what the other person who is trying to
communicate with him is saying,he will also feel so stressed out due to the ringing in
his ears,Noise should always be kept at a level where it is convenient for all
residents.in the Oakland residential care home. Stretch and Whitehouse(2010)) says
that”a noisy environment may therefore be difficult and unpleasant for someone who
is using a hearing aid”.
In order to overcome factors that might hinder effective communication in a health
and social care setting, Staff training is going to be important in the sense that skills
and techniques will be needed in order to be able to minimise noise for residents
especially those with hearing aids and also for residents in general to aid
communication. In a situation where there is noise and staff don’t have quality
training to minimise it there will be a situation where people with hearing aids may
have loud ringing in their ears and might not be able to stay in such an environment
which could mean they will be limited to activities and even the general residents will
have difficulty communicating with loud noises which will hinder communication and
activities.
Staff training is an important factor to consider when faced with noise in a health and
social care setting ,if Nurses and Care Workers are given adequate training and
skills on how to deal with noise management in a health and social care setting such
Health setting will never face any problem with noise.

● Seating
A room or place with improper or bad seating positions can mean a group of people
cannot see or talk to each other comfortably,Residents of a care home will feel
uncomfortable if the person they are trying to communicate with is at a distance or
too close, for example in Oakland residential care home if there is a party or group
activity for all residents ,if the seating is bad it can disrupt communication as
residents might feel uncomfortable during the activity,if a person is sitting too close to
them or is at a distance.
● Lightning
Stretch and Whitehouse(2010)stated that “Good lightning will be critical for someone
who supports their understanding of speech with lip reading” It's Very Difficult to read
people’s facial expressions if you can’t see their faces due to poor lightning, it can
disrupt communication,Bad lightning is a disadvantage for an individual that supports
their understanding of speech with lip reading, for example in Oakland residential
care home Mo with a hearing impairment supports his understanding with lip
reading,he will have a difficult time understanding and making out people’s
expressions with bad lighting,so there should always be proper lighting to promote
effective communication and also to prevent accidents that might occur from bad
lightning.
In order to overcome factors that might hinder effective communication like Lightning
an appropriate environment will be required as it will enhance communication among
other things in the care home ,in a scenario where there is no appropriate lightning
accidents might occur eg individuals with wheelchair might trip over or even a
resident can just trip over in an environment with no proper lightning they will be lots
of hazards that will occur in such an environment.there will also not be effective
communication especially with Individuals that have sight impairment .
In an Environment where there is proper lightning there will be proper effective
communication and no hazards will occur.
