, Introduction

Globalisation is often perceived as an economic phenomenon concerned with trade and investment, however, in


reality, it is much more complex and involves aspects such as culture, religion and interconnectedness of social life


(Hamilton and Webster, 2015). In a globalised world and especially international business environment, it is vital to


fulfil the needs of a diverse customer base and support the inclusion of people from different backgrounds, holding


different values and beliefs (CIPD, 2018 and Uber, 2019).


In relation to current global issues, it is hard to predict the future of rising powers and the state of our planet (WEF,


2019). Therefore, the main objective of this report is to explore the key challenges facing China in 2019 and analyse


their potential impact on the transportation network company (TNC) Uber (2019). Starting with geopolitics, which is


the combination of political and geographical factors affecting foreign relations and concluding on risks posed by


climate change (World Economic Forum (WEF), 2018).
