Target Audience
The target audience for the app is young children who are learning to do basic sums. The age range
for the app would be 7-11 years old. This age range has been chosen because this range is when
children have grasped the basics of mathematics and need to put what they have learnt to the test.
Children should know the value of each number and what the math’s symbols represent to use the
app. If they have not learnt this yet, they may find the questions too difficult to answer.

Purpose
The purpose of the app is to teach young children how to solve sums within a time limit. The app
must be designed to be simple and easy for children to understand for them to get the most out of
the experience. When they get a question current, they need to get a suitable reward to make them
want to carry on answering questions. This can be achieved by displaying a congratulation message
to the child, so they feel inclined to carry on.

2x2=?(4)
A possible test for the app that could be done is to see whether the answer is negative or not. The
person requesting the app does not want the program to produce questions that have negative
answers, so to test for this is vital. If this test is not done, it would greatly increase the difficulty of
the question making the child feel frustrated, as they have not learnt how to do this at this stage in
their life.
