Unit 1 assessment
My first choice of business is Apple, and my second choice is Islamic Relief. These
companies differ from each other for example,Apple is a public limited company this
is because It gets the benefit of having Limited Liability this is useful for companies if
something goes wrong and someone wants to sue the company they can only go
after the company assets and not the owners assets.(15) On the other hand Islamic
Relief is a non-profit organisation. They both have unique ways of working and I
have explained the ways that they operate within this assessment.
Apple
Apple is a business that specialises in inventing
new technology. Apple is a public limited company; this means that its business is
listed on the stock market, and anybody is allowed to buy into their company.
Furthermore, Apple is a private business. This means their goal is to produce
products and aim to make a profit. Due to this, they have the highest quality at the
highest price to make the highest amount of profit. In addition to this Apple has
limited liability as they are private limited company this allows the owners to be
protected from any lawsuits coming to the company and this will protect any assets
that the owners have.
The sector that Apple is located in is the secondary sector. This is because they
manufacture their products. An example of this is their iPhones, iPad, earphones,
and more. They are also classified as working in the tertiary sector as their products
are used for education and research. They also come with GPS and internet access,
which allows people to use it for this purpose.
In addition to this, they are also classed in the quaternary sector, which means they
innovate new products, support ICT, they help to build a better world; for example,
Apple will only use clean energy, and they want to do this by 2030 and spent over
$300 million doing this. (1)
Apple is a massive international company this can be seen as they have over 500
store (17) located scattered around the world this would indicate they have a huge
success around the world as they have so many stores, in addition to this their stock
has seen a huge success this is shown as they apart of the s&p 500 which is a etf
which tracks the top 500 US companies.(18) In addition to this Apple influence many
people day to day life due to their innovation of product that has changed company
ever to build the smartphone and make it a touchscreen this innovated peoples life.
In addition to this due to Apple using high quality materials in their product it would
allow their company to be preceived as a luxury brand and their quality attracted
customers to their business. Furthermore, Apple aims to "bring the best user
experience to its customers through its innovative hardware, software, and services."
, (2)statement from Apple's mission statement. This is what they aim to achieve for all
their products and services. The size of Apple is vast; they have over 147,000
employees in their business (3). This shows that they are huge businesses and their
employees correlate this.
The map shows countries that have physical Apple stores.
(16) this shows that Apple has huge dominance in the
technology market as they have a range of stores around
the world. This would show that the company knows that
they have demand and they are trying to capitalise off this.
Islamic Relief
Islamic Relief is a non-profit organisation that supports countries in danger of a
crisis. Their main goal is to help people within these countries get out of these
circumstances and live a better life. They do this because they believe that
‘’everybody should have a fair chance at life and it shouldn't matter where you were
born.’’ (14)In addition to this their vision statement is ‘working together for a world
free of poverty.’ This shows that their goal is to end world poverty. This goal is their
vision for the future and this is the goal of the company to reach. (18)
Islamic Relief is an international company that works in over 40 countries globally.
Islamic Relief has over 2000 workers in their company; they all work in different
countries; this would show their company as a large company as they have more
than 500+ workers working for them. Islamic beliefs have many beliefs, but their end
goal is to "inspire people with the Islamic values and beliefs and their values are
based on the Islamic religion." This shows that they want to promote their values and
help out people. An example of this is their empowering communities, where they
provide basic news leads to people who need it the most. By doing this, they provide
value to them and help them out, and their end goal is to get people out of poverty
permanently. (5)Furthermore Islamic belief is seen as a trustworthy company this is
because they have written an numerous article explaining what they do with the
money an example of this is that they say that they follow all islamic beliefs and they
explain about their aid packages will contain their highest quality packages and will
benefit people’s lives forever. (19)
