Unit 4: Managing an Event Assignment 2
C4/B. P3: Investigate the staging of several events to determine
common success factors.
Introduction:
In this assignment, I will discuss three successful events that have performed very
well in terms of both popularity and income, and then present and set out my
own event strategy. I'll be discussing the important elements, research and
preparation, resources, and risk assessments of my own half-day event, which I'll
be organizing and putting together with a conclusion at the end.
Event 1 – The London Olympics 2012
Every four years, the Olympic games, a large global multi-sport event, take place.
It frequently takes place in a separate country. In 2005, London was chosen as the
host city for the Summer Olympic Games in 2012. There was a lot of
reconstruction needed to make these games a success, which was necessary
because it required a brand-new building opening with a 200-hectare Olympic
Park in East London, as well as other sites. This Olympics also includes more than
250 committees from across the country.
Several issues made it difficult for the Olympics to be successful. The amazing fan
support in the United Kingdom. The athletes, on the other hand, benefited from
the surroundings because it aided their performance.
However, it wasn't just the audience or the surroundings that helped it succeed.
As a result, the incredible marketing team played a critical role in the event's
success. If the marketing team had not done what they did, the situation would
have been disastrous. The marketing team consisted of top organizations with
world-class service providers and funding, as well as top employees with
extensive experience. All of these contributed to the Olympics' overall success.
This included the program's merchandising, which was broadcast on all major
channels and had incredible sponsorships as well as many licensing programmers.
All of this has ensured that 90 percent of the population gets reached.
One of the most crucial elements to consider was health and safety, as it had a
significant impact on the event's success. The volunteers and staffers must have

, been well taken care of. It was a top priority for me. This is due to adherence to
European and UK regulations and standards, which ensures a safe working
environment for employees. There were around 40,000 persons that worked on
this event in all. There was outstanding leadership in contributing to health and
safety standards, resulting in a very low accident rate.
The London Olympics in 2012 were a phenomenal success, eliciting incredible
emotions from people all around the world as they honored the volunteers, the
British military, and the public. Although there were numerous issues, the
tournament was deemed a huge success since it upped the bar for
competitiveness with outstanding performance. This Olympics' triumph will go
down in history as a major national event. As a result, Olympic venues have
continued to host events after the games left a lasting sports legacy in order to
hold them again. As a result, the London Olympics in 2012 were a financial
success, boosting the UK economy by £10 billion.

Event 2 – iPhone X Launch
Even the phone's name, iPhone X, added to the product's hype. The phone was
advertised as having been purchased in the future. Apple skipped the iPhone 9
and instead sold the iPhone X to customers, demonstrating that they skipped two
years to deliver the phone from the future. This heightened interest in the device,
which came with a hefty £1000 price tag. It failed to demonstrate that £1000 was
worthwhile because to its marketing technique. Apple's marketing technique was
brilliant, and it truly engaged its customers.
Apple had their product introduction in a new location in Cupertino, where they
erected a huge glass theatre named after Apple's founder. Steve Jobs Theatre is
the name of the venue. This helped since it gave the consumer the impression of
something fresh new and never seen before, making the event a major
forthcoming event. The agency's manager, David Hargreaves, who handled
Apple's public relations, stated that the iPhone X unveiling in the brand-new
auditorium produced the finest setting for consumers to see the new iPhone.
Apple's classic tease of teaser leaks in the media was another method they used.
This was done on purpose in order to pique consumers' attention and spread the
