BASICS: DOSAGE:
• Dependant on patient weight
• Pethidine Hydrochloride
• 25-150mg
• Analgesic—opioid, alkaloid

• POM, CD authorised by PGD or

GUIDANCE:
• Moderate to severe pain

• Renal impairment • Vomiting

• Interacts with diamorphine • Dependence

• Epilepsy - metabolises to norpethidine • Convulsions after overdose
