 The length of the single polypeptide chain varies (between the 300-1200 amino
acids)
 They are defined by the 7 transmembrane spanning domains/alpha helices (7TM)
They start with an extracellular outside the cell, and then after spanning the 7 times
(For each domain), finish with a intracellular c-terminal within the cell

The loops - IL1, IL2 and IL3, represent the intracellular loops, then the 3 extracellular loops (EL1, EL2
and EL3) - these are the parts of the peptide chain that link the transmembrane domains, either on
the inside or the outside of the cell


G-proteins are specialised proteins that are able to bind GTP and GDP
