In this assignment I will be looking at how training has impacted Vodafone and how the training has
positively impacted the business. I will then be discussing and explaining the impact of training on an
individual employee working at Vodafone and how this benefits them in the long term.
Positives
There are many positives of training employees at Vodafone which benefits both the employees and the
business in general.
The first positive of training is that employees become more effective at their job and therefore the
quality of work produced increases, benefiting the customers as they would receive the best service
possible. Also, there is an increased morale and motivation if a business, in this case Vodafone, is to
train their staff because they would know how to do their job to the best of their ability. Employees and
staff would work harder to benefit the business if they are more motivated, meaning more work done
and more revenue generated for the business. Furthermore, there would be less confusion from the
employees as they are doing their job; the staff would know how to do the given task properly meaning
that they would get more work done and become more effective and efficient in their work.
Another positive of training employees is that loyalty would be increased because the staff would have
built a strong relationship with the business and then there would be less turnover from staff; they
would be more likely to stay in the business and maintain that relationship with them. Moreover, the
more training that an employee receives, the more opportunity they have for promotion as they are
learning how to do their job to the best of their ability, giving employers and management more of a
reason to promote them higher up the chain of command. Furthermore, the staff would become more
ambitious when they have been trained more because they would have been given more information
and instructions on how to do their job better and how it will benefit them if they work more efficiently
and effectively.
The main positive that can be taken from training employees in a business is that individuals will become
more skilled; when there are more skilled workers, more work gets done at a better rate and quality,
benefiting the business in the long term.
Negatives
There are also negatives that come with training employees within a business; not all the outcomes of
training are positive and beneficial to the business and its employees.
The first negative of training employees is that this training may be organized poorly in a way that makes
it ineffective in terms of improving the skill set of an employee; if the training is not first organized and
prepared to the best that it can be then the employee being trained won’t benefit from this and neither
will the business. Furthermore, training takes time and that means that the employee being trained
must have the time to do so. This is especially difficult when working in a busy job; the employee would
have to take time in order to be trained for their work, preventing them from working in their job or
being trained. Also, not all the staff that deliver training to employees can do this effectively and
