Discuss the organizational structure that you, as the nurse administrator for SLMC, believe
would be most appropriate. Use a specific organizational theory to support your decision and

As the nurse administrator for SLMC changes would require teamwork , empowerment
and accountability. As a hospital leader the ability to empower and lead by example requires
leadership skills that exemplify versatility and communication. Working together with the staff
to achieve the set goals would ensure buy in and sustainability of any implemented changes.
Nurse leaders are constantly charged with the responsibility to navigate the healthcare
turbulence[ CITATION Sti191 \l 1033 ]. My leadership style is transformational leadership.
Transformational leaders have the ability to inspire and innovate[ CITATION Kha18 \l 1033 ].
This is the type of leadership style required in this scenario. Utilizing a collaborative approach
would consist of usage of a shared governance model to drive the desired changes. Shared
governance requires a collaborative approach. Staff are given the autonomy to work together and
with leadership to drive policy and process changes. Usage of a shared governance structure
would be impacting the organizations outcomes positively. Staff involved in the shared
governance committee making changes encourages leadership and sets the standard for other
employees to follow. Shared governance has been so impactful as the frontline stakeholders are
making the decisions. These decisions and changes are also more sustainable as they were made
by frontline staff and thus unit-based staff are supportive. Utilizing the staff develop an action
plan that would begin with development of a plan, education, interventions and measurable goals
would help. It was noted in the that there was an increase in the number of hospital admissions
