Introduction
I will be accessing two websites, comparing both the principles of the websites, purpose of
the websites, how the website designs are used and how they affect both the websites in
usability performance, interactivity, target audience of both sites, the accessibility of the
websites and the navigation of the sites, seeing if they follow the golden ratio or not etc.
I will also be covering the performance of the websites, how scripts affect it and how the
user’s internet speed increases or decreases load times.
The two websites I will be comparing are DELL and HP.

Purpose of Websites (Including target audience and
products)
DELL’s homepage easily tells the user what the website is about, the purpose of DELL is to
sell and provide laptops, desktops, workstations, Monitors, Servers and Accessories.
It can easily be inferred that DELL’s target audience are likely to be people interested in
buying a laptop, computer or those looking to get new servers/accessories, from this people
interested in gaming or people in the workforce would best benefit from the site, it is
geared towards both males and females, although DELL does not offer printers so for users
that need one HP is a better choice.

, HP’s home page focuses on mainly home and business laptops/desktops, gaming laptops
and printers, the main purpose of HP is to provide access to a multiple range of Personal
and Work-related computers, this is also the purpose of the website.
Unlike DELL, HP doesn’t offer servers or even webcams but both sites offer a range of
headsets, batteries and keyboards/mouses.
The target audience of HP is more geared towards a casual side unlike DELL’s where it is
mainly for working environments with little gaming related products, HP offers gaming
products so is suited for gamers, workers looking for a PC with males and females both
being targeted.

Both HP and DELL have whitespace HP mainly in the corners of the site, (the image above
has whitespace on the left side which leaves for more content to be desired) DELL also has
