ASSIGNMENT ONE –
EXPLORE THE ROLE OF AN EVENT ORGANISER
1
, Event- a planned private or public occasion.
Event organiser- an event organiser is the person who sets up the event that will take place
and is usually the person who runs it and makes a report of it.
Roles required by an event organiser:
Venue - the first part and one of the most crucial is the venue. This is important as you need to
know the types of people coming to the event and also the number of people coming to the
event so you need to have a big enough venue for the certain amount of people that are going to
be there. The venue has also got to be one that relates to what type of event you are running as
this will make the process easier, for example a sporting event on a large field or a cooking
space or area for a cookery event.
Location - another vital part of being an event organiser is finding an appropriate location which
can be seen as very similar to finding a venue, however they are slightly different as a venue can
be for a specific thing but in various locations, however the location is the specific place where
the event is held, therefore making it one of the most important factors.

prepare things such as meals, drinks and snacks. The reason this is essential is due to the
fact that when you are hosting an event with several people they are going to want to be treated
very well, this means that if an event organiser has managed to provide the guests or people at
the event with snacks or drinks this will please them as they will not be having to leave the event
due to not being well catered for.
Planning /reserving facilities - planning and reserving facilities is a major factor as you do not
want to have anyone disturbing your event because it was not planned or reserved, meaning
that an event organiser has to be very prepared by arranging the required facilities prior to the
event. This could be many different facilities such as restrooms, waste and recycling and
possibly parking facilities.
Setting up the programme - this is a role that is important so people will know what the event
will be and what takes place during the day. Furthermore, the programmes quality and contents
will help guide peoples interest towards the event.
Preparing and distributing documents - as an event organiser you need to be able to
prepare and distribute documents such as flyers and posters so people will know more about
the event and also more people will be able to find out about the event if there is some form of
