Kirchoff's LawsNamed after its creator, Gustav Kirchhoff, Kirchhoff's rules can help you understand current
power and voltage in a circuit and can be used to analyse complex circuits that can be
reduced to a single equal resistance using what you already know about series and parallel
resistors.
Kirchhoff's Junction Law states that the amount of currents entering the junction must be
equal to the amount of waves exiting the junction. The current is never used in a circuit, so it
makes sense that every current that enters the junction must come out again, too.
Kirchhoff's loop rule states that the total change in voltage around and the closed loop in the
circuit should always be zero. This means that if you add voltage to every circuit element all
the way around the loop, you will get zero.

Let’s take a look at how you can use two Kirchhoff rules to analyse a complex circuit like the

The first step is to find out how many branches are in the circuit and describe the current
dynamics of each branch. You need to find only one current for each branch, because
each point in the branch will have exactly the same current value; but different branches
may have different currents.
