Week 4 NR 512The nursing era is currently mixed with many baby boomers/ veteran nurses and 21st
century nurses. I personally feel this is a great mixture so both eras of nurses can teach
the other what he or she knows. This mixture allows for an array of skill sets to be
passed onto the next nursing generation.
Nursing informatics allows for information management and nursing sciences to
manage, communicate and define wisdom in the nursing practice. From personal
perspective, I believe both generations of nursing are able to fulfill the novice
requirements of nursing informatics. I know that I struggle with technology, especially
when updates are involved leading for me to take my time documenting due to the
unfamiliarity.
The ageing process may render certain tasks less desirable and more challenging for
the older nurses. Employers could pay attention to the needs of an older workforce
through improved workplace practices and being familiar with factors associated with
early retirement and retention (Uthaman, Chua and Ang, 2016).
