P1: Identify the purpose and types of DNS, including explanations on how
domain names are organized and manged.
DNS: The domain Name System is a phonebook of the internet. It connects
URLs with their IP address. With DNS it is possible to type word instead of
using unique IP address it allows people to search for website and send emails
using familiar names.
Purpose Of DNS: Domain Name Servers are the internet’s equivalent of a
phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to
internet protocol (IP) addresses.
DNS translates domain name. It is because of DNS we can visit a website
by just typing the domain name rather than the full IP address.
It supports high performance, availability, and scalability through the use
of data hierarchies.
It is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to
remember, computer or machines, access website based on IT addresses
Types of DNS server:
Primary Master Server: The primary master server is the DNS
name server that loads the master copy of its data from disk when its
starts. The primary server may also delegate authority to secondary
servers in its zone as well as to servers outside its zones
Root Server: A root server is part of the supporting
infrastructure of the internet and facilitates internet use bu acting
as the backbone of online access.
Forwarding Server: When simple DNS plus receives DNS request
for a domain name configured for forwarding its skips the normal DNS
