Unit 18 - Assignment 2

Promotional Communications

In this report , I will be discussing how my selected businesses have used
the promotional mix and see how the internal and external factors have
affected them whilst using the promotional mix. The two businesses I
have chosen are Just Eat and JD Sports. The two come from different
sectors of business where one offers an online service to their customers
whereas the other comes from a retail sector.

Task 1

P3)

The promotional mix allows businesses to set out their marketing
strategies through different segments of interacting with customers. This
is good for businesses as it's like a guide for them where to start or
where to carry on but the end goal for the business to use this mix is to
make sure that they get customers attention from all angels.

Businesses must advertise themselves if they want to win customers or
customer's attention at least as this will allow the public to be aware of
their business and what they have got to offer for them. For Just Eat they
offer the public to order food from their favourite takeaways or
restaurants via their online app or website if they don't have access to the
app. The business is always consistent with their advertising strategies as
the business is always active whether it comes to TV adverts or social
media. Just Eat are always posting on their media platforms as they know
most of their customers / target audience are going to be on the media so
they have offers uploaded all the time which will make them stand out on
their social media and that will make customers use their service
consistently.
Every business uses social media to attract and interact with new and
current customers as social media is a free way of marketing themselves
even though some businesses may go out their way to pay for additional
options such as making sure they always come up on people's feed 24/7
but speaking generally
social media is a free way
to do most of their
marketing as technology
is advancing and the way
how people interact.

Just Eat are always delivering TV adverts to their customers as their
target audience is for everyone from students to people who are older and
feeling lazy to cook something for themselves. The business has got
Snoop Dogg involved with their advertising campaign which managed to
develop themselves because the brands not only looked as delivering food
but looked as delivering food with joy which shows the business is
always looking for ways to make customers feel happy with their service.
Also this is something that puts them ahead of their competitors as none
of them have got a celebrity endorsement to do something for them like
this and Just Eat doing this allows them to show how interested they are
with their customers by bringing joy to their service.

Just Eat's personal selling and direct marketing intertwines as they
service is strictly online so for them to do that they have to interact with
customers through what they have. The business sends emails to
customers on a daily basis to interact with their customers directly as
that's the only way for them including social media but other than that I
believe its hard for them to do anything else that involves direct
marketing or personal selling. However , this is good that Just Eat does
this as it allows them to keep customers intact with them along with the
loyalty as there are other businesses that offer the same service but Just
Eat doing this keeps them staying loyal with them instead of using their
rival's service.

The business does also do sales promotions as that's another way of how
they keep their customers loyal with them and Just Eat does this by
offering their customers new offers on a daily basis once they have gone
on the app or accessed them through their website. Once the customer
enters their postcode , a whole bunch of offers will pop up which will allow
customers to save money depending on which takeaway or restaurant
they will receive food from. Also the business using customers data such
as knowing what type of food they like and where they order from Just
Eat will try to match with that as they know customers would like to try
something new out whether its food or a different place to get similar
food from which way maybe better but Just Eat offering this type of
service will allow customers to experience something different which they
may hate or like but end of the day the business knows for them to have
loyal customers is to send them daily offers.
