Purpose:

This research will investigate the present difficulties that easyJet is facing. For example, they suffered a
significant loss during the initial lockdown. This study will also look at other corporate issues facing
EasyJet. The first difficulty EasyJet faced as an organisation was a £1.3 billion loss owing to flight
cancellations due to covid. As a well-established company, this posed a significant challenge because the
loss was significant. As a result, “During the second and third weeks of March, many passenger planes
were grounded, and by Friday, April 17, 2020, almost 5000 passenger planes were being kept in 39
nations within the Eurocontrol area. Nearly a quarter (948) were in the United Kingdom.” (Budd , et al.
2020)

The second difficulty that EasyJet faces is international boarder limitations, which have been imposed by
194 countries. These countries-imposed limitations on passengers who needed visas as a result of their
border controls. The ITIA predicts that airliners such as EasyJet will suffer as a result of these unforeseen
constraints, “The coronavirus outbreak cost $314 billion in passenger revenue.” (Budd , et al. 2020)

A third issue that EasyJet is dealing with is personnel redundancies and retention. “Thousands of
redundancies have been announced by British Airways, easyJet, Rolls Royce, Airbus, and Ryanair in the
UK by June 2020.” (Budd , et al. 2020) The loss of skilled and experienced operational workers may also
have an influence on the return of services.

EasyJet’s corporate crisis:

In relation to a corporate reputation issue, it can simply be understood as. “others' perceptions of a
business.” (Alva.2020)

In my opinion, the meaning of corporate reputation is how the typical person views an organization's
past and present behavior. This can then give a prospective customer insight into whether they should
employ that company's product or services. Alternatively, they may use a competitor.

Due to the outbreak of COVID 19, to stop cases surging high most countries closed their boarders off
from the beginning of March till August causing low air travels. This affected almost every industry, one
being the airline industry. According to BBC, “easyJet has warned that this year (2020) it faces losses of
more than £800 million and that it plans to fly next year at just 25% of regular capacity. The annual loss
will be the first in the 25-year history of EasyJet.” (BBC ,2020)

Aviation Industry performance 2012 - 2025

, (Mcgrath, 2020)

The percentage of revenue in the airline industry is depicted in the graph above. In 2019, the global
airline revenue percentage was 0.43 percent, but it has since depreciated to a sub-standard rate of –
14.44 percent in 2020, as a result of the global pandemic.

Design/methodology/approach

The research design for this investigation will be a qualitative survey that will investigate the opinions
and service satisfaction of previous and present consumers through online sources such as Trustpilot. As
Trustpilot would have obtained the information. In terms of research methodology, this essay will
primarily rely on qualitative data, such as words and textual data, as well as secondary data. Secondary
sources will be evaluated. This essay will use a qualitative research approach by conducting online
surveys that have already been completed. This method is ideal for analyzing EasyJet's customers'
human behavior and experiences, including contradicting views, behaviors, and emotions, which can be
quite useful to the researcher. Secondary data from educational sites such as Emerald and Business
Source Complete will also be used in this investigation.

The qualitative technique will be used in this study, and an online questionnaire will be used. The
corporate difficulties faced by EasyJet will be included in this questionnaire. Since it is more cost
effective, this study used an online questionnaire. Respondents also have the option of remaining
anonymous. An online questionnaire can also be used to reach out to a larger number of potential
respondents.
