In this assignment I will be going over the different key management skills that are necessary andneed to be involved when creating a project. I will also be analysing how this management skill have
an effect on the development time of the project and how they impact the project as a whole as well
as what benefits they can provide to anyone that is involved in the development stages of a project.
Key management skills
The key management skills are a set of skills that are involved in the making of a project and when
they are applied and are present, they make the development stages of the project become a
smoother and simpler process because of the benefits that they can bring to the project as well what
effects that they can have on the project in the different regions where they are used and applied
effectively.
Team management
The definition of team management is the ability of an individual or an organisation to group
together a team of people for them to perform a task while being able to communicate with one
another and to prevent there being any problems while the team is focussing on a project.
This is a skill that is necessary for any project that requires the performance and involvement of the
whole team while they cooperate to deal with any problems that may occur, without this in a team
project it would mean that there would be no discipline or control in the team and would lead to the
team being unable to complete a small task without there being any problems. An example of where
this skill can be used is when the project or team manager needs to step in to give direction to
people informing them of what they need to do and they are also there to make sure that the team
gets the work done on time and correctly.
This is a skill that I have not used in my project due to the fact that this is a project that I completed
by myself and I did not need any assistance from any other person so I did not need to have a team
that is well coordinated and I was able to swiftly progress through the create of my timesheet
without the need to consult anyone about any changes that I want to implement.
Communication
Communication is an important key management skill due to the fact that it allows for people to
express their opinion regarding a certain topic of the project it also allows for the team to
understand what direction they should take the project in such as what features to add or take away
or if they need to change the current design that they have for their current project.
This is a key management skill that is required in all projects that has a team, this is a necessity for all
projects because of how creative the team can be when regarding their project. Communicating also
limits the chance of any risks or of anything going wrong because all aspects of the project are
, conveyed to one another to make sure that the project is progressing in the right way. This key
management skill would be used the most in any team project and it is also the most important key
management skill for any member of a team whether that be the manager or someone part of the
development team.
This is a skill that was not used that much in my project as I have no one I need to communicate with
as I worked on this project without anyone else aiding me, however if there was people apart of my
project team this is something that I would need to use and implement into my project to make sure
that the final product is a useable and reliable program or project.
Personal organisation
Personal organisation is a skill that does have an impact on the rest of team however it is a skill that
only the individual person has control over. Personal organisation is a skill that revolves around a
single person and their ability to organise and deal with multiple problems that may arise in the
process of making the project, another feature that is a apart of personal organisation is maintaining
a correct schedule and sticking to it through out the project to make sure everything is completed on
time.
This skill can be used in team projects and can also be used in individual projects, in both of these
scenarios this skill is just as important as it makes sure that in both teams’ that the individual is
getting the work done while at the same time sticking to a schedule that has been set before hand to
insure that there is plenty of time to complete the tasks that have been allocated to the different
sections of the team.
This skill was used in an abundance due to the fact that I was working on this without a team, this
means that as the only person working on my project I needed to make sure that my personal
organisation was the best it could be to make sure that everything was completed in the correct
order and as efficiently as I could.
Time management
Time management is one of the most important skills to have regardless of the situations this is
because if you do not have good time management and there is a deadline for a project you will not
be able to meet the deadlines for this project on time as you will become unaware of how long each
task may take you as well as how long you have left on the project.
This skill is used everywhere as there is most likely a deadline for everything regardless of if it’s a
team project or an individual project however this skill would be more important in individual
projects due to the fact that there wont be a team manager there to help and tell you how long you
should be spending on each section of the project because there is no one else on the team all the
responsibility to finish this project falls on you so as an individual your key management skill need to
be the best they can to insure that the project is completed on time.
