Reflect on projects that you have been involved in during your career or in everyday life.
We have all been involved in projects such as buying a house, renting an apartment, remodeling,
and so on. You may also have participated in projects at work, such as workload assessments,
initiating an electronic health record, or even pursuing a major capital project such as building a
new unit or facility.
What do you feel is the most important aspect of project management to ensure a
successful project? Provide a rationale for your answer.
Dr. Williams and Class,
Within my experience in planning projects, I feel the most critical aspect for a successful
project is developing the team and stakeholders. Anyone can have a great idea, but if you do not
have the right team members and backers for buy-in, the project will not go anywhere. It would
be best to incorporate different ideas and ways of thinking to cultivate creativity in bringing the
project to life. The team members chosen are vital to the success of any project and bring
different talents and skills for execution and successful completion. In our reading, Abyad (2019)
found that it is primarily due to ineffective communication and the inability to identify the
complications when projects fail. Glassman & Withall (2011) state the importance in determining
potential nurse leaders is critical to a nurse executive skill in producing the best outcomes
driving growth and development of the organization’s future.
