Unit 18 Digital effects and animation

Assignment 1 by Tahmid
Introduction to assignment
In this assignment I will be talking about the following animations and effects, Production
techniques, legal requirements, 3D modeling techniques, principles of creating visual effect,
principles of creating Audio effects and hardware and software requirements. I will also include
comparison, positive and negative and my evaluation to each of the sections as well as the impacts it
has to the products.

Purpose of Digital animation
Animation means to bring to life or to fill with breath The rapid display of a sequence of images to
create the illusion of movement is known as animation. The most common way to present animation
is through a motion picture or video program. In a nutshell, animation is the process of bringing our
imagination to life.
What is Animation used for?

Animation is used for more than just entertainment; it has a wide range of applications and is a vast
subject in and of itself. Here are some examples of times when animation is used

,Different purposes for animation
Advertisement uses for animation

Advertisements e.g. sky television advisements

Advertisement is heavily reliant on animation. Many large corporations use animation in some form
or another to attract customers. The Dancing Pony Advert by the phone company ‘Three' is an
example of animation in advertising. This advertisement drew millions of people from all over the
world to their website, resulting in a massive profit. Animation is also used in web advertising. Many
game companies create eye-catching animations to entice players to play the game or visit the
website. Advertisements would be extremely boring if they did not include animation.

Positives and Negatives:

Positive of using animation on advertisement is that it will make the animation look much more
interesting therefore attracting more customers to the product which is being advertised this would
not have been possible if the advertisement was animated thanks to the fact, it is animated business
or organisation will get more money
A negative of animating an advertisement is that it will cost more money which will mean business
and organisation will have to pay more money for them if they did not animate the advertisement
also another negative is business will need to find and hire someone to make the animation which
could take a long time which is bad because business need to get there advertisement out as soon as
possible business will also need to get equipment and provide of person who is making the
animation which is also going to cost money

Compare:

Using advertisement in animation is quite like entrainment this is because both advertisement and
entertainment use animation to make their product better and much more attractive and engaging
for the user drawing them in and making them want to watch as entertainment would not be
entertaining if people where not drawn to watch same goes for advertising as an advertisement
would not ad

,Example of advertisement use of animation:

Coco pops is a really great example of where animation is used to really make an advertisement of a
product shine during the tv days after a show would end there would be a lots of advertisement
coco pops a cereal company realised this would be a really good way to make their product sand out
and shine in tv so what they did is they made an animated advertisement about there cereal this
was really different as no other cereal did this most would just have poster or announcement on tv
about their cereal having this animation really caught the attention of children this was a really
massive and great advantage to coco post as kids then told there parents to go an buy the cereal
which resulted in thousands of people buying the cereal as they saw It on television as an
advertisement and most kid would watch television this was a massive success for coco pops and
this is all thanks to the fact that they used animation to do there advertisement and not had made it
a live action

Positive and negative of Coco pops using animation

A massive positive of coco pops is that it made the animation much more unique as other cereals
have not done this this attracts people’s attention as coco pops was a prime example of this making
the sales rocket for copies a negative would be that it did cost much more money than it would have
if it was not an animation

Comparison:

this is very similar to entertainment use of animation as both make sure to use animation to engage
the audience and make them want to watch for example advertainment engagement them in the
advertainment in a sense also entertaining them as the coco pops advertainment is much more
interesting animated then if it was a live action this is also entering the user to watch which is form
under the entertainment category.

, Gaming uses for animation

Gaming e.g., Xbox, PlayStation, mortal combat x

The majority of things in the gaming industry rely on animation. A programmer cannot programme a
game without a model, and everything in the scene, including modelling, texturing, rigging, lighting,
and so on, is done by animation students or professionals.

Positives and Negatives:

The positives of adding animation on a game allows the game to be much more interesting and
playable to a person if there was no animation on a game it would be hard to make the game
detailed and advanced which would mean it will not attract people but thanks to animation you are
able to attract people and the game is playable for a much longer time then a game which is not
animated it is much more expensive to make a animated game then it is to make a normal 2D game
for example you will have to buy the correct equipment such as a good program to make the game
also if you want to make a really big game you will need a team of animators as doing it in one
person is far less effective and take much to long which will mean you will have to pay for the team
also it will take much more longer to develop an animated game then a non-animated game

Comparison:

This is very similar to advertising and entertainment as both use animation to make their products
more engaging for the audience to watch both are much more enjoyable because they are animated
and would not be as enjoyable if they where not animated being animated allows both to be much
more engaging for the audience and makes people much more interested equalling in profit for both
entertainment and advertisement
