P5-participate in a one-to-one interaction in a health and social care
context
This script is based on bullying. One of the children named Sarah has come to speak
to the teacher about the bullying that she is experiencing. In our role play my
classmate was the teacher and I was the child.
Teacher:Good morning everybody, how are you all today?
Sarah: BAD!
Teacher: Oh that’s not what I want to hear!
Sarah: Miss,Billy keeps on pushing me in the playground and snatching my toys!
Teacher: Sarah come over here and tell me what happened.
Sarah: Everyday at break because I am on the swing and Billy wants to use it he
tries to push me off it and then when I’m playing with my dolls he keeps on trying to
rip out it’s hair and break my doll
Teacher: Okay Sarah I understand he will stop doing this. Are you friends with Billy?
Sarah: I was but not anymore. I will not be his friend until he stops pushing me and
breaking my dolls.
Teacher: Okay don’t worry Sarah I will make sure that he apologises to you and
stops bullying you
Sarah: Ok but I don’t want to be his friend anymore because I know that he will
continue to bully me
Teacher: No Sarah he will stop I will make sure he does! I’ll go and speak to him
now
Sarah: Miss he won’t stop
Teacher: If he doesn’t stop then I will bring his parents in
Sarah: Okay miss thank you (sarah exits the door)

In this role play the staff are having a meeting with the manager regarding an
incident that occured in the nursery when a child went through the door
unsupervised during this meeting. The staff are discussing how to ensure an incident
like this doesn’t happen again.
Manager: Good Morning ladies and gentleman
Staff: Good morning
Manager: The aim of this meeting is to discuss an incident that occured where a
child wandered out of the gate as it was left open.Do any of you know anything about
this?
Staff member: I did see a staff member retrieving a ball that had gone over the gate
but I didn’t see anything else
Manager: Okay. This is a very serious issue and we must make sure that the pupils
are supervised at all times to prevent this incident from happening again.Do you all
understand the importance of safety and security?
Staff member: Yes. One of the staff members maybe just forgot
Manager: Staff members should not be forgetting these things as they have
received adequate training on keeping pupils safe whilst on the premises.
Staff member: I agree
Manager: So can anybody come up with any concrete ideas and strategies to
prevent this incident from happening again?
Staff member: We must ensure that all pupils are supervised and that the gate is
locked once break time has finished
Staff member: We could also install security gates so that they do not have to be
manually closed as they would close automatically
