Small event

A small event I have attended is a team building event. Every couple of months, work hosts team
building with each department. Roughly around 15 people attend and come together to get to know
each other better whilst doing some training. They also hold activities for us all to join in and see
other colleagues in a different light-hearted way.

The work team building event was successful as it was run by the managers who had a clear vision of
what they wanted to come out of the event, they set goals and make sure they are at the right time
when they feel team building is needed. The activities made the event successful as they resulted in
increased communication in the working environment.

Medium event

A medium event I have attended is a wedding, there was between 100-250 people that attended the
event. There were many assets that needed to be brought together and well managed to achieve a
successful day. The wedding was managed properly by a group of people to make sure everything
was booked, time managed and kept budgeting.

The wedding was a successful event as the venue was well organised and comfortable for all guests.
It was managed properly ensuring everything was set up properly and nothing was faulty. Also,
catering is a larger part of a wedding day all guests need to be fed so during the event there was
mixed options depending on dietary requirements to make sure everyone was able to eat. As it was
outdoors the venue was suitable as it had indoor and outdoor areas meaning people had options.

The event was successful as everyone enjoyed themselves and was comfortable. It was well
managed by a few people which led to an enjoyable day for everyone.

Large event

Every four years, the Olympic Games take place. They are one of several huge international sport
events. Thousands of worldwide athletes participate in many different sports whilst many people
watch and support their country either live or on tv.

The Olympics is a successful event as its run with different teams ensuring the days go to plan one
being health and safety. It was critical that the volunteers and staff be well cared for. It was a major
priority. This is due to devotion to European and UK regulations and standards, which ensures a safe
working environment for employees. This event required the participation of over 40,000
individuals. There was outstanding management in contributing to the health and safety standards,
that led to an extremely low incident rate.

Another team which contributed to the success of the Olympic is the advertisement team. If the
advertising team had not done what they did, the situation would have been disastrous. Top
organisations with world-class service and finance suppliers, as well as people with extensive
experience, were involved in the advertisement. All of these added to the Olympics' final success.
This includes the program's merchandising, that was broadcast on all main channels and had
incredible sponsorships as well as many licensed programs. the advertisement reached majority of
the population.

, Overall, the 2012 Olympics were a major success because they drew incredible reactions from
people across the world, and they honoured all volunteers, British military, and the public. However,
there were a few mishaps, overall, it was an immense success since it increased the bar for
competitors with outstanding performance. As a result, Olympic venues have been preserved and
reused for occasions after the games demonstrated a strong sporting legacy worthy of hosting them
again. The 2012 London Olympics were a financial success, bringing in £10 billion to the UK
economy.

From assessing these 3 events I can see which are the main factors of a successful event;

Venue- This is somewhere suitable for the event to take place. There are many factors that need to
be taken into consideration such as space, buildings, indoor/outdoor and facilities provided. The
venue is a main part of an event as it sets the initial scene allowing people to create their own
judgement on the event, which is why it is important for the venue to relate to the event. A venue
can be a deciding point on whether people attend or not due to the fact if they like it or not.

Location- The location of an event is just as important as the venue itself due to the fact people need
to be willing to travel to the event, many people like the location to be closer to their homes as it
makes them feel more confident with where they are going and a sense of safety, this may
determine how many people attend the event

Catering- Catering is important as they need to cater for a wide range of people by catering different
ranges of food, drinks and beverages. Also ensuring they’re staff are respectful and up to standard
with your expectations. Caterers have a large responsibility of catering for ethical beliefs which may
lead to guests no being able to eat the food provided for example, pork. Ensuring everyone can eat
caters need to ensure they have alternative options. Allergies are a important requirements that all
caterers need to consider and be aware of as they need to cater differently for the specific guests
ensuring they are not affected.

Event ideas-

For my event I have teamed up with 4 of my classmates Izzy, Katy, Lenny, and Eloise. In my group we
discussed a few options for events, our first option was a curry night. Initially we thought it would be
a good idea as its simple and we would be able to enjoy a calm relaxing night. After weighing up all
the pros and cons and came to an agreement we wanted something interesting, and we also realised
not everyone would enjoy the meal. Our second option was paint balling we thought this would be
great as it was more interesting and a large group of us would be able to attend. However, we also
came to the agreement that this was too expensive, and most people did not want to travel as far as
they were in smaller areas or too far away, we viewed a few websites for this including the Brighton,
Caterham, and crawly venues.

Final decision-

Event Title Top golf
